Image Help

Alrighty, my lovelies. I am having issues deciding on images for the ‘thon theme.

I am doing a military charity, so I wanted to use images which would evoke that feeling. I collected up a bunch on iStock, but now I’m all – overwhelmed. Help me, internets! HELP ME!

I know Luka liked the Patriotism one and the one with the red poppy….

4th Doings

Now that I have gotten all my philosophical musings out of the way, let’s discuss what I actually did yesterday. LOL There were some – issues – but we’ll save those for another post since they are internet related. This particular post will deal with my real life. Ahhh. Real life. (=

Late afternoon, I headed over to Roomie’s house, to visit with her and her hubby, SlushieMan. How I adore them. In any event, I ran over to their house for some food, company, and fun. And all was, indeed, had. SlushieMan grilled hamburgers and brats on his very ‘manly’ grill. This thing is HUGE. Not large, huge. Sheesh. But, it was some amazing food. The burger was huge. Way huge. Yum.

After the food, we wandered off to do some chillin’ and hangin’. Roomie had to do some packing for a trip, but it was cool. I enjoyed helping her think about what she might be forgetting. SlushieMan was off, taking care of computer things. Silly man. Roomie and I watched Project Runway, my current obsession. WOO! I adore it. I cannot wait for Season Three to start next week! YAY!

I hung out with them until the fireworks were over. And I must say, A Capitol Fourth, put on by WETA TV, Maryland Public Television, utterly disappointed me. Where was my 1812 overture with cannons? WHERE. BAH! I was so unimpressed with the arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner they used as the finale. Some Christian singer, who did TWO verses, and sang the whole thing in the stars, especially the end. (PS, “In the stars” is something I picked up from my mother. It means the person is singing it in a really, really, REALLY high key. It amuses me because my mom CAN sing in the stars. LOL) Anyway. I was just unhappy. I wanted my 1812 overture with cannons! Bah.

Overall, though, the day was a success. I always have a fun hanging out with Roomie and SlushieMan. I’ve known them both for years, since college. I think we are going on a decade. Freakin’ eh.

I’m going to miss those two. (That’s a whole other post. It’s coming…)

Behind the 4th

Yesterday was the 4th of July. Now, every country has one, aye. But, here in the good old US of A, the 4th of July is Independence Day. We celebrate the day our forefathers declared there would be no taxation without representation, amongst other things, by grilling meat and drinking beer. Oh, and with fireworks. Don’t get me wrong, I adore the hamburgers and the fireworks, but someone clear this up for me.

What does that have to do with the original meaning? LOL I mean, sure, how else do you celebrate, but shouldn’t we at least have some TV shows about why the 4th is important? Shouldn’t we have storytime about what Independence Day means? No, ID4 doesn’t really count. ::snickers::

Honestly, I think there should be – something. Just so the whole point doesn’t get lost.

Does that make any sense?

Or are my two cents just – out to lunch?

HTML Snob

So, it is a well-known fact to those who know me that I am an HTML snob. I admit it freely. it comes from learning the original HTML by myself and the hard way. All those fun editors? Yeah, not really around when I was learning it. Or, if they were, I didn’t know about them. And even if I had, they would have been too expensive for my broke-ass, college self.

Anyway. Why do I bother bringing it up now? Because of the website of a sheet game I play on IRC. It’s – hideous. Dark, patterned background, with the text DIRECTLY ON IT. Oh. My. God. Jenny, I know you are cringing in your chair. Everytime I see it, I want to take the whole thing and rip it down. Re-do it. Guh. I just cannot stand it.

But, I have the feeling that if I do that, I run the risk of offending the current webmaster. And, unfortunately, he’s way more important in the hierarchy of the game than I am. Meh. I may do it anyway. I hear tell he is going to redo the pages. If the new pages are not inifinitely better, I will do it and screw the consequences. I just cannot stand having those pages represent a game I play. Ugh.

My aesthetics are displeased and offended!

I see swirlies!

So, yours truly has created a brand, spanking new layout for her site. It’s all cool and crisp. I adore it. It makes me think of an iced cold glass of water – which is just perfect since it’s now getting to be hot and humid here where I live. Damn the cursed day-ball! Why did it have to come back? I was enjoying all the rain! ::shakes a fist::

In any event, with the help of Teli, Betty, and Luka, this site is now fully operational. Actually, I need to thank someone else – Ankh. He will most likely never see this, but – thanks to him, too!

All the graphics and coding were done by yours truly. I’m so proud. Look out, world. I’m back!

The GeekGoddess (and HTML snob) has returned.

LOL
