Welcome back to Burning Evanescence! I mean, Poe’s Box! I mean – waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiit . . .
I apologize for the sudden, new template, but I worked really hard on it and I didn’t want it to be up for just a single day. Besides, isn’t it just nice to look at? I adore it. (= I think it really compliments my charity. (Sponsor me, you know you want to!) Anyway. On to the Request.
Request:
There is a randomizer script which can be used in EE. I plan on using it. But in a slightly different way. ::points to sidebar:: On the day of the Blogathon, all of that will be either shortened or removed so this ‘random’ script can be used. I would like to display messages to our troops in my sidebar. It can be anything, really, as long as it is from you – and from your heart. This is my request: Send me some messages you would want a service person to see and read. Try and keep it to a couple of sentences, no more than four. Just so the script doesn’t bog down the blog and all that. You could even send more than one! I would love that! I really think it would truly enhance the whole thing. I know I have some things in mind to put in. Please email your messages to burningwords @ gmail.com. Make sure to delete the spaces. (; If you would like your message to be anonymous, please say so, or I will include your name, as I receive it.
Anyway. That’s my request. Pass it on! (=
Alrighty, my lovely readers! Now comes the time when I ask you, my readers, to give back. Not to me. Oh no. Not to me. Never me. I do this for the love of you! Yes! I thrive on your adoration. But, there are others who need your help.
For those of you who are long time readers – or have been around the block with Luka or Betty – I am doing the Blogathon this year. What is the Blogathon, you ask? A blogger signs up and stays up for 24 hours, posting once every half an hour. All for charity. I did it last year, with my dear Jenny. I’m hoping she will join me again this year. But, she is so, so, so busy, I’m not sure she has time. I am, however, keeping her seat warm! (=
In any event, this year I am blogging for the Armed Forces Foundation. There many, many people in the Armed Forces, both military personnel and their dependents, who need help. The Armed Forces Foundation offers funds for the families of wounded military personnel to come and stay with them while they recuperate in the hospital. They also offer funds to renovate the homes of those service members who are now disabled and can no longer navigate normally. They also offer funds as death benefits, should the worst happen. I am really thrilled to be generating money for them this year.
Sponsor Me! That is where you click to pledge your money. You will not actually donate any money until after the Blogathon. I want you to make sure you get your money’s worth! ::grins:: Anyway, after the Blogathon is over, you will be directed to the Armed Forces Foundation website to donate your money through them. I never see *ANY* of your money, just how much you pledged. Just make sure you click on the Sponsor Me! so your amount will go into the running total for both me and the Thon! (=
Thank you everyone!
…to call the blog “Poe’s Box” for now. It amuses me. It’s a little naughty. And – well – it’s just fun. (;
I mean, really, why not? ::giggles::
This blog needs a smaller name. It’s just – way too long. Bleh. Not to mention I had someone come by recently, thinking this site was about setting a band on fire. Oh, dear. )=
So, let’s hear it, internets. What could I call this silly little blog of mine? (;
I’ll take any and all suggestions. And perhaps there will even be a prize for the one who either comes up with the title I choose – or inspires one I come up with myself. I don’t have anything exciting to offer, but perhaps we can come up with something. (;
BE1 banners or icons or something. Who knows?
PS – haven’t I just been a Chatty Cathy today? Sheesh!
