Bite me, luscious

CBS, one of the major non-cable networks here in the States, has a new show starting in the fall. It’s called “Moonlight.” Yes, it’s about a vampire. And yes, goddammit, I am excited about. ::snickers::

1. When it’s well done, I love vampire series and movies.
2. The concept is interesting. Perhaps done before, but still very interesting to me.
3. The guy playing the vampire? Hot. (;

Have a look. (God bless YouTube.)

So much…

Ever have so much to say, you just did not know where to begin? Yeah, that’s me. I’ve been that way for three days. So much I wanted to blog about and absolutely no idea where to begin. It’s rather frustrating. So – I suppose, I should just start and when I have finally finished, I should stop.

  • Internet Outage
  • So, I finally got completely fed up with my lack of television. I had satellite TV and I loved it. However, due to the trees behind my condo building, I was no longer getting a signal because the leaves were in the way. I called the company and told them about the trees and they suggested cutting them back. Problem. They aren’t my trees. They are part of a state park. No touchy. They moved the dish. No help. At all. So, I finally just got fed up and cancelled the service. Because I was getting a package deal, TV, DSL, and phone, I ended up cancelling everything. No big deal, really. The cable company was running a special and I was going to take advantage of it. However, I apparently did things out of order. I called to set up my cable service. “The next available appointment is in two weeks.” Come again? “The earliest we can come is the 18th.” It was currently the 4th. Okay, then. I try to schedule it for the 18th. My choices? 8 to noon or 1 to 5. Okay, how about 1 to 5, and they come after 3, since I work until then. “The technician might come at 1 or 2. Perhaps you should have a Saturday installation.” What. The. Fuck. You are HOW big a company? You can’t manage to schedule things for a smaller block of time than FOUR HOURS?! If I want a weekday appointment, I’m supposed to take off work and WAIT for your fucking ass? I KNOW you do not schedule TWO people for an entire day. You COULD manage it, you damn morons. Ugh. So, I opt for the Saturday installation because I’m tired and fed up. The 22nd of September. That is when my internet will be restored. Ugh. Fortunately, my local library is totally current and up to date. It has wifi available and it is open until 9 pm. Oh, joy. So, I will not go into total withdrawls. But – still. What the hell. Ugh.

(Let’s do more after the bump)

Topical Tuesday #1

Welcome to Topical Tuesday – a new meme where we try and get people to just discuss topics on their blogs. Topics are posted on Tuesdays. Post your thoughts and opinions on your own blog! Pass it around!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Topic :: Freedom of Information :: Web Censorship
So, do I think there should be censorship on the web? I think, after a fashion. There are certain subjects and websites which should be non-accessible to anyone who isn’t really looking for them. And some things are just damn wrong. (IE, Child pornography) I think there should be a way to put certain things behind a screen or a splash page – or something. Really, when I’m doing a search and I click to something, I do not generally wish to be assaulted by porn images. And yet, it never fails. I’ll do a search and click to a site and there are images fit for porn right there. What the hell.
So – really. I think, if you are going to house a porn site – make your meta tags a bit more specific so I don’t have to see that when I do a general search for other things. I don’t need to see that. I don’t want to see that. Thanks. q:
I also worry about kids finding stuff like that. Kids don’t necessarily know everything. I mean, here in the US, if you want to get to the website for the White House, you put in whitehouse.gov. Well, what if you didn’t know that? What if you thought, because it makes sense, it’d be whitehouse.com? Yeah, not a good place for kids to go. I had a teacher in college tell me her kid actually DID put whitehouse.com into the URL bar and hit enter. Oh, the horror. So, I suppose for things like that, you shouldn’t be able to register domains which would, logically, be used for official things, like the White House.
Honestly, I’m not saying we should be censored on what we put up, but I think there should be some ways to make it less likely for kids to find questionable material.
Oh, and let’s not get started on posting how to make bombs. What the fuck is wrong with you people. WHY would you WANT to post that? Given everything which has been happening around the world and in our schools? Stuff like that should definitely not be about for people to find. Guh. >___< Anyway. Thoughts?
The worst teacher ever. Period.
Hi, I’m Eliza of Fembat Unhinged.
From being quite young I loved school. I wasn’t the brightest in the class, but I loved to learn. But I was always very weak at Maths. Later I was diagnosed as suffering from dyscalculia, which is similar to dyslexia but covers problems associated with mathematical calculations. Back when I was at school however dyslexia was still considered an excuse and dyscalculia was unheard of.
Anyway, to bring me straight back to the point, I am going to dish the dirt on an old teacher of mine, who I shall refer to as Mr.Old. I was in my final year of primary school, and this would be the first year where they seperated those children considered exceptionally bright from the others. My previous teacher Mr.K thought I was, and placed me in Mr.Old’s class. I was delighted.
I entered that classroom a confident happy ten year old, and left precisely ten months later a withdrawn child who would intentionally make herself ill to avoid school. I was bullied, not by other students, but by a teacher of the old school.
If you do not like personal whining entries, don’t continue!
