What the – ?

I am at my local Panera, at a write-in for NaNoWriMo. I went to the bathroom, cuz, you know, nature screamed and all that.

There was a bra in the stall.

No. I’m not kidding.

A bra. In the stall.

What the hell?! O_o

It’s times like these where I wish I knew how people like Daniel moblogged, just so I could show you.

Wow.

Hi, I’m Mat.

Doormat, apparently.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder why I still work for the County I do. It enables the students to basically blow off everything they do not feel like doing. All the time. And I, as the math teacher, get the shaft every time. No, I’m not kidding. EVERY time.

You know what? This is going to get really, really vulgar in the language. Profanity galore. Go after the bump.

NaNo Update

So, here’s the rundown on my NaNoWriMo goings-on.

I went to a write-in on Saturday and one yesterday, Tuesday. Both were very productive. And I am really happy with my progress. Hell. I wrote 3000 words yesterday. Mostly of dialog. Anyone who’s written anything knows doing that in dialog takes for-freaking-ever. Ugh. And you feel like you’ve written so much because there are so many lines! But – no. You do a word count and it’s – not that much at all. So frustrating. But! I did write 3000 words yesterday. Score for me! (= I’m so happy about it.

I made a couple of new friends at the NaNo forums. Awesome. Love me the NaNo forums. (; So fun. (=

Also, I’ve picked up a mentor. He’s going to be sending me peptalks and whatnot. I’m excited about it. I always fall behind in the last stretches, so I’m hoping this will help muchly. (=

Word Count: 19808

Go me. Only 30192 to go. >__< God save me.

Fight!  Fight!

In my classroom. No, really. (; There was a fight in my classroom today. Oy! O_O

It was the very end of one of the periods and I look up from my desk (what the hell was I doing, anyway?!) – and find that suddenly, two of my boys are out of their seats and going at it. I thought it was a joke a first, because this group can get like that. Then, one boy put the other in a choke hold and then threw him against the chalkboard so his head made a serious contact. (There’s a mark in the chalk dust on the board. I was looking at it later thinking – what IS that?! Ohhhhhhh…)

I couldn’t believe it. Stunned me and the entire class. I got up and stepped between them and sent them to separate corners of the room. Then, I changed my mind and took them to security because – well – that’s standard procedure. If it hadn’t been the end of the period, I would have had security sent to me. Yeah, if there’s a fight, gotta tell security and then write up an incident report and the students go see their grade level administrator.

The boys were really good about it, actually. They separated when I told them to. When I said let’s go to security, they followed along with me. They didn’t try to run down the hall or get into it again. Took them to the security office and let them know what happened. Both boys, and I, filled out incident reports. I left them with security and went back to class.

Crazy, no?!

PS – the student who did the slamming got suspended. No, I don’t know why he did it. Based on what he said, it was something the other student said to him. I don’t know what it was because 1) I was across the room and 2) not paying that much attention due to other students talking to me. Whatever was said – it was not liked. At all. Damn.
