Fight!  Fight!

In my classroom. No, really. (; There was a fight in my classroom today. Oy! O_O

It was the very end of one of the periods and I look up from my desk (what the hell was I doing, anyway?!) – and find that suddenly, two of my boys are out of their seats and going at it. I thought it was a joke a first, because this group can get like that. Then, one boy put the other in a choke hold and then threw him against the chalkboard so his head made a serious contact. (There’s a mark in the chalk dust on the board. I was looking at it later thinking – what IS that?! Ohhhhhhh…)

I couldn’t believe it. Stunned me and the entire class. I got up and stepped between them and sent them to separate corners of the room. Then, I changed my mind and took them to security because – well – that’s standard procedure. If it hadn’t been the end of the period, I would have had security sent to me. Yeah, if there’s a fight, gotta tell security and then write up an incident report and the students go see their grade level administrator.

The boys were really good about it, actually. They separated when I told them to. When I said let’s go to security, they followed along with me. They didn’t try to run down the hall or get into it again. Took them to the security office and let them know what happened. Both boys, and I, filled out incident reports. I left them with security and went back to class.

Crazy, no?!

PS – the student who did the slamming got suspended. No, I don’t know why he did it. Based on what he said, it was something the other student said to him. I don’t know what it was because 1) I was across the room and 2) not paying that much attention due to other students talking to me. Whatever was said – it was not liked. At all. Damn.

But – PHEW! I didn’t get the “OH MY FUCKING GOD!!” until after I left security. I was walking back up the stairs to teach my third period. I had that tight sensation in your chest you get with a near miss or something. I’m not sure I’m explaining well. It’s not like it hurt to breathe or anything. There was just a – tightness – in the middle of my chest. Adrenaline + shock. Yay. Man. Lasted two full periods. >__< I thank the goddess they didn’t decide to try and fight around me or through me. God. >___< That would have been interesting. Not sure how I would have handled that one. I totally wanted there to be something much more interesting than water in my mug during the next period. The water was just not hacking it. XD (Man, just writing about it and I’m getting that sensation in my chest again. AGH! BREATHE! It’s okay! I’m okay! *deep breaths*)
