Okay, boys and girls. You got your rundown of the boys last night from our dear Daniel. Tonight – the girls. And the theme is – 80’s. Yes. I love the 80’s. The boys had some good choices (Michael Johns) and some strange choices (Chakezie). Shall we see if the girls follow suit?
Blah, blah, blah. Shut up, Ryan. >__<
Simon got booed! Randy too nice? Mebbe! Paula is at fault for bad hair. Simon says everyone is at risk. Dun care about embarrassing moments. Shut up. Get on with the singing.
Asia’h Epperson – I Wanna Dance With Somebody
Hrmm. Whitney Houston. Not bad, I suppose. Hrmm. Few people can do Whitney right, though. She’s ai’ight. That’s about it, I think. She’s allowing the backup singers to do the high ‘oo’ things. Pussy. Judges? (Holy shit. Paula is on her feet and dancing. That woman needs some different meds….) Oh, she muffed the end note. Ha. Whitney is not her forte. At all.
Randy: Tall order for you to take on. That was hot!
Paula: Picking big songs. Can she pull it off? You nailed it. (She did? Didn’t seem so to me…)
Simon: At best, second rate Whitney Houston. (Yes! So true) You did the Whitney and you didn’t hit the big note. (Paula and Randy disagree. I agree with Simon.)
Kady Malloy – Who Wants to Live Forever
Okay, first off, I adore this song. If she butchers it, I swear to god, I will go to Hollywood and beat the shit out of her. Srsly. Huh. Weird arrangement. Hrmm. I guess she’s doing okay with it. Sounds odd on her. I think that’s my problem with it. (That and – uh – she’s trying to do Freddie Mercury.) Okay. Hate her ending. Ugh. No. Bad. Judges?
Randy: Interesting song choice. Pretty good job. Queen is hard to sing. Smaller notes weren’t supported.
Paula: Best performance to date. Tenderness and softness is where the magic is. (What the fuck is she talking about?)
Simon: Better than last week. Issues with your massive lack of personality. Robot when you sing. Like the Stepford Wives. No emotion out of this.
(Nice one, Simon! Ryan: “What do you want to see?” Simon: “I’m not going to get into it. I’ve made the point, understand it.” AWESOME. I <3 Simon.)
Amanda Overmyer – Hate Myself For Loving You
Jesus Christ. I cannot stand her. She mumbles. Ugh. ENUNCIATE WOMAN! AGH! >__< Ahem. What the hell is she singing? Okay. If she would stop mumbling at the start of songs (and screaming in the middle), I think I'd like it better. It's ai'ight, I suppose. I am not a fan of her at all. Judges? (Shut up, crowd. She's not that good)
Randy: Bluesy-rocker chick. Well done, baby. Well done.
Paula: Your face is beautiful. I like your hair. (What?! Why are we talking about her face?) You picked the right song, you found your niche.
Simon: Fantastic. (Ugh. Really? )= ) Absolutely nailed that song. Perfect song for you. Favorite girl performance of this part of the competition.
Carly Smithson – I Drove All Night
Hrmmm. I like her better this week. (Did I hate her last week? I don’t remember.) But, I dig her this week. I’m not that familiar with the song, but I like it. She’s doing well with it. She doesn’t sound pitchy or anything to me. So – props. Judges?
Randy: Smashin’ it every week. Very, very good. Another great performance.
Paula: You are like a dependable dog. (Simon: What? You just called her a dog.) I think you are totally into your niche. Your singing – not enough adjectives to describe. (Try, Paula. Christ.)
Simon: I don’t think you chose the right song. I think of the Celine Dion version. (to the audience) What is your problem?! (to Carly) It’s not a great song. It doesn’t do you justice.
Kristi Lee Cook – Faithfully
Hrmmm. Can she pick something upbeat? At all? Blah. She’s just – boring – me. Yeah, yeah, she’s singing it well and all that. But – nothing fun from her at all. In three weeks. I want her to go away because she’s boring. Judges?
Randy: Dogs and Journey. I love this girl. Great song. Great band. Country lilt to it – it could work as a country single. I liked it.
Paula: That could be a hit for you in country music. It would be amazing. You look great tonight. (Who cares, Paula?!)
Simon: I think it was good that we heard a country influence. I think your problem is that you’re forgettable. (So right, Simon. So right. She bores me, so I forget her.) At best – 10th.
Ramiele Malubay – Against All Odds
I’m not a fan. I don’t know why. I mean, it’s not like she can’t sing. She can. I just – don’t care about her. At all. I want her to go away because I just – there are more interesting people. And why Phil Collins? I don’t get the song choice at all. Oh, yeah. She can belt. But – eh. Don’t really care. She won’t go away, unfortunately, but I can wish. Judges? (We know you’ll love her. :/ )
Randy: Another big song, big vocals. Pretty good vocal. Find that confidence. I can hear you thinking. Just go for it. C’mon wit’ it.
Paula: You have such a beautiful face. (What the fuck is wrong with you, Paula?!) You have a lot of texture to your voice. (Are you on crack?) It’s all about you. You deserve to be in the top 12.
Simon: Because you are so little and cute, it was good. Old fashioned. No big money note. Actually, I thought it was predictable. Not jumping out of my chair. (Hey! Simon’s not a fan. Yay!)
(What the hell is Danny doing? Wearing her glasses and doing a weird hand gesture? That boy is straaaaaaaaaaaaaaange….)
Paula is sitting on Simon. What? O_O Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? O_O
Brooke White – Love Is a Battlefield
Okay. She’s doing a weird rendition. Acoustic guitar is the music. And she’s got a weird twang. Oh, pitchy there. Hrmm. She is doing something weird which is making some of the higher notes sound really wrong. Like a scoop up and just – ugh. Not good. >___< Not a good version of this song. At all. She did the whole thing sitting on the edge of the stage. Weird. Judges?
Randy: I liked it. It was interesting. Not anything new, but interesting. (Paula apparently choreographed the video…)
Paula: I thought it was a wise choice. I would have liked you to incorporate the band more to build.
Simon: I think it worked purely for the reason you didn’t include the band. You made it into a song that does suit you. Great performance.
Syesha Mercado – Saving All My Love For You
What is it with all the Whitney this week? O_o She’s doing better with Whitney than the last one did. But – is it bad that I just don’t like her? At all? I can’t figure out why. :/ I just don’t like her. Mleh. Irrational and unexplainable. Anyway. It’s better than the last one who did Whitney. I’m not sure it’s still worthy of Whitney. Eh. Judges?
Randy: Good.
Paula: Sophisticated. Lovely.
Simon: A bit predictable, but good.
(Time crunch. Hence, it’s all short from them.)
Okay, boys and girls. That’s the top eight girls. Come back tomorrow for the results show. Maybe it’ll be just half an hour this week. Who do I think will go? Kristi Lee Cook and Kady Malloy. That’s my predictions. Based on what the judges said, anyway. Who would *I* like to go? Brooke White and Kristi Lee Cook, I think. Hrmmm. Based on their performances, anyway.
See you guys tomorrow.
You did not like Overmyer? Awwww. But she was my favorite tonight. She’s very cool girl.
Thanks again for posting this. Yours and daniel’s recaps of the shows are much better than actually watching it. 😀
