Charity gets Smacked!

So, they say charity begins at home. Well, how about at the homepage? (Yes, I’m aware my wit is lacking today. Roll with me. q: )

IT2M is raising funds for the Autism Society of America. Of course, they are doing it with their own flare. Yes, yes they are.

They are holding an old-fashioned raffle, baby. Like your church used to have. (If you went to church. I went to church. They had raffles. Fun stuff. (= ) And I’m helping. Word of Mouth is the best Advertisement ever. ::points to sidebar:: See the lovely image? Click. Ya. You know you want to get in on that. Get your raffle tickets for a chance to win some truly luscious prizes. And, bonus, the Autism Society of America reaps the benefits of your envy and lust.

100 Things – Day 1

So, I was over at Eliza’s place, checking out her thoughts. She’s doing this thing, 100 Facts in 100 Days. I figure, why not? What have I got to lose? (=

Hrmm. Let’s see. Fact #1

I was born in Washington, DC, but I was raised in a small town in the suburbs. I was, in fact, born in the ghetto. Greater Southeast Hospital is in the ghetto of DC. It is now, that is. I asked my mom if it was a ghetto when I was born. She affirmed, oh yes, it was. Perhaps not quite so bad, but – still. Interesting. I think it’s funny. (; But I’m weird like that.

My family home was in the suburbs and it was good. I really have no complaints about my childhood. I grew up with everything I needed, with extras. I had a dog and siblings and a gang of friends, vacant lots and woods and streets to run rampant upon. Really, what else does a kid really need? And, even better, computer grew up with me. I got to watch the home computer grow up. How fun is that? I started out on this machine that ran a word processing program – and that was it. The disk was an eight-inch square. HUGE. It was called a linolex. And then, we got an actual computer, with DOS. Oh, sure. Windows was available, but you had to start windows from DOS. If you wanted to run a game, exit to DOS. The C:/ prompt was my friend! Command line, baby!

I miss those days…

All the Charity, Half the Time!

So, Luka and I were talking. The Blogathon is a ton of fun and we love doing it. We were thinking that perhaps a year is too long to wait to do it agian. Not to mention, charities need all the help they can get, right? Of course they can. Sooooo, we were thinking…

Why not do something similiar in, say, February? Half-way between this year’s ‘Thon and next year’s ‘Thon, and we always wanted to do half the time as well. We haven’t named it yet, though we toyed around with HalfBlogged, SemiBlog, DemiBlog, and HemiBlog. (Help us! XD)

We haven’t really figured out how it would work, but we are interested to see if you, the bloggers, are interested. (=

Would you give up 12 hours on a Saturday to blog, blog, blog? All for Charity? We were thinking the 10th of February (right before Valentine’s day. Awww, do it from the HEART. (; HeartBlog? We’re trying not to infringe on the Blogathon too much, namewise.), from about 10 am EST to 10 pm EST.

What do you think, blogging world? I love it. It’d be FUN.

Of course it works…

Wench! Rachel! I managed not to break things. (; (Course, I asked Yoshi about it. Because I’m a chicken like that…)

What the hell am I talking about? Wench wrote some stellar code. (Well, duh. It’s Wench. Pffft.) Anyway. I can now blog about my work and if my students find this blog (oh god, the horror!), no sweat. I scrounged through my member list and I think I managed to hit up everyone and all. Email me at burningwords @ gmail.com if you got left out (or would *like* to be left out. I’m just nice like that.).

Anyway.

Many, mucho thanks to Wench and Rachel and Yoshi. My saviors!
