Vox QotD – 7 June

On the advice of the beautiful and wonderful Betty, here is the Vox Question of the Day! (Of course, cross-posted to my Vox account. (; )

What are your deal breakers in a relationship?

  1. Infidelity. Period. You cheat, I’m done. SEE ya.
  2. An inability to communicate. I had this in my last relationship, which meant I didn’t know there were unfixable problems until he said “I’m done with this relationship. Bye.” That’s a problem.

I think those are the only ones which are the BIG ones. I haven’t had a lot of experience, so – I can’t really say if there are small ones which would pile up or anything. I am, as they say, pretty much still a relationship virgin. I’ve only ever had two. Yes. Two. Two fingers two. What are you gonna do?

However, I do know what is annoying in a guy you are just starting to see…

Date One: Fun, seems okay. He goes “I’ll call you later this week.”
One Month later: “Oh, hey, wasn’t he going to call?”

And yes. In that month, I have made attempts via email or phone.

I’ve had five first dates like that since September.

It’s starting to give me a complex…..

Plotting

Okay, peoples. Let’s be honest.

I suck at this blogging thing.

No. Really. You know it. I know it. I really do know it.

And yet – I don’t want to suck at it. :/ I love my blog. I love writing in it. I love putting up weird stuff and having weird discussions with people about the odd things I find – or about my thoughts or opinions. I adore the interaction you can find on the internets.

And yet – I cannot seem to find the motivation to blog every day like I should so there will be people to read my opinions and thoughts and to comment on them and interact with me.

Perhaps I need a schedule? Until I get back into the groove? What do you think internets?

Monday – the Meltdown
Tuesday – random Trivia (I’ve been saving up some doozies!!)
Wednesday – Weird News
Thursday – Life Update (????)
Friday – ???
Saturday – ???
Sunday – Unconscious Mutterings

Do you think it would work? What should I fill in the ???? with?

HELP ME internets! I don’t want to lose you!

Looking ahead

I’m looking ahead to July. Why July?

Blogathon!

It’s coming! Yes, yes it is. And I am thinking of a few things.

1) I need to begin blogging regularly so I have readers for the ‘thon. (;
2) I am looking for a good charity. I blogged one year for a charity which is studying miscarriages and last year for a military charity. Thoughts for this year? I’ll take all thoughts, but go on and explain why you are pimping your particular charity. (=
3) A good schtick. Something to keep me going and something to keep people interested.

In regards to #3, here’s what I am thinking…

Having Diz and Kyle tagteam with me again this year. That was a fantastic blast and I totally would love to have them come and help out again this year. With Kyle’s help, I am pretty sure this is the ONLY blog which went the ENTIRE ‘thon. For those of you going wha – ?!, there were two schedules last year. There was the Main schedule, which ran 24 hours starting at 9 am on Saturday morning. Then, the Sabbath Schedule (for our bloggers who observe SATURDAY as their Sabbath) started later Saturday evening/night and ran through Sunday. Kyle, bless his heart in California, ran my blog after I passed out and kept it up until the end of the Sabbath schedule. So – yay us! (= 24 + 12 = 36 hours. Hee. (;

Anyhoo. I’m thinking about having the Trivia again this year. My god, I actually had people STALKING my blog. That was AMAZING. (= I loved it. I’m also thinking about writing an interactive story, meaning, you, the readers, would have a hand in the outcome of the story. I was thinking of writing a section and at the end, a decision must be made. You, the readers, would decide! Yes! And based on the poll, I would write the next section. I think it sounds fun….

What Teachers Make

I was sent this via email. I don’t usually share forwarded emails, but – it was about my chosen profession and it actually makes a very good point.

————————————————–

Perhaps this will cause all of us to look at those who choose the teaching profession in a different light…

What Teachers Make

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life.

One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, “What’s a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?”

He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers: “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.”

To stress his point he said to another guest; “You’re a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?”

Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness replied, “You want to know what I make? She paused for a second, then began.

“Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought they could. I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of Honor.
I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when their parents can’t make them sit for 5 without an I Pod, Game Cube or movie rental. You want to know what I make?” She paused again and looked at each and every person at the table.

“I make kids wonder.
I make them question.
I make them criticize.
I make them apologize and mean it.
I make them have respect and take responsibility for their actions.
I teach them to write and then I make them write.
I make them read, read, read.
I make them show all their work in math.

I make my students from other countries learn everything they need to know in English while preserving their unique cultural identity.

I make my classroom a place where all my students feel safe.
I make my students stand to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag, because we live in the United States of America.

Finally, I make them understand that if they use the gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their hearts, they can succeed in life.”

Bonnie paused one last time, and then continued.

“Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, I can hold my head up high and pay no attention because they are ignorant. You want to know what I make?”

“I MAKE A DIFFERENCE. What do you make?”

————————————————————–

I do make a difference. How about those of you complaining that your child isn’t getting the best education possible put your money where your mouth is and PAY teachers what they are worth?
(That’s a whole other rant, though… (; )
