Quiz Results

So, I was just taking some quizzes because Jenny had one up at her blog.  Here are the results of a few.

First – my EYES.  For the record, my eyes are a strange blue-green-gray color.

Your Eyes Should Be Brown
Your eyes reflect: Depth and wisdom

What’s hidden behind your eyes: A tender heart

Your Hair Should Be Red
Passionate, fiery, and sassy.
You’re a total smart aleck who’s got the biggest personality around.

The Keys to Your Heart
You are attracted to obedience and warmth.

In love, you feel the most alive when things are straight-forward, and you’re told that you’re loved.

You’d like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic.

Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future… one you can grow with.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something precious. You’ll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred.

In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You’ll do anything for love, but you won’t fall for it easily.

RIP Radio

On Wednesday, 4 January 2006, a second radio station playing music I love was changed to a different format.

The first was WHFS, 99.1. Home of the infamous HFStival, HFS was really a fantastic station. I liked the onair personalities. I was just getting into their newest morning program as they had skewed from their sports base enough to keep me from rolling my eyes. Then, I believe in the spring of 2005, I turn on HFS and hear – latin music. Eh? Well, that’s not OVERLY strange, some of the alternative/rock bands do have those sounds sometimes. But it was also in Spanish. EH?! I keep listening and the DJ ends up speaking in Spanish, too. Damn it. What the HELL?! I switched over to 97.9 (98 Rock) and they are talking about the demise of HFS. Well. Frack. HFS is now El Zol – a Spanish radio station. Damn, damn, damn.

Now, it’s Z104. Z104 played a wide variety of alternative and rock – old school included. And the morning show – the Matthew Blades Radio Program – was utterly fantastic! I loved it. A refreshing change from Elliot over at DC101. I turn on Z104 on Thursday morning and get classical. Eh? What? That’s freaking weird as crap. I log onto the website when I get to work – and get a note. “By the way, Z104 is dead. WGMS, the classical station at 103.5, is now here. Enjoy!”

Well, frack AGAIN. The number of radio stations playing music I like – to my knowledge, anyway – has been narrowed to two. DC101 and 98 Rock. Wash FM – 97.1 – plays a bit too much mushy love crap for me. Mix 107.3 is not bad, but – again – sometimes too much of the crappy loveness. (Adult contemporary, I believe it is called.) Hot 99.5 plays waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much Rap for me. I really dislike turning on my radio and hearing “Let’s screw, baby! I’m rich and you know you want me.” Well, maybe I don’t. Ugh. Sometimes they play stuff I like, but not often. I think WPGC – 95.5 – is still playing things like that as well. At least, that’s what they played when I was in high school and I have little reason to believe they’ve changed format.

Damn, damn, damn. You stupid, coporate pains in my ass. I hate you in this moment. I hate you so much. Always about the bottom line. Screw the listener. Damn, damn, damn. No WONDER people are moving to satellite radio. Unfortunately, I can’t afford it – and I like the fact that free radio will play up and coming bands and the like. I adore finding new bands for listening.

So – here’s to you, HFS and Z104. You are sorely missed and I hate what they’ve done to you.

‘Tis the Season…

Yes, yes, the Winter Holidays are technically over. But – honestly, I don’t think Christmas and the like should be the only ‘Season of Giving’. I think the ‘Season of Giving’ should last all year. Because – there is a need all year ’round. All the time. And yes. I have practiced what I am preaching.

Rachel is throwing a baby shower for a woman who lives on base with her. And I put my money where my mouth is.

I’m not saying you need to go give, I’m just trying to say why I did.

I hope this young woman has a wonderful life with her new baby. Thank you, Rachel, for also remember that the season of giving should last all year.

My First Tenet

So, I’ve joined BE1. And then I decided to go ahead and rent out my blog. I mean, sure, why not? All that good sidebar space over there. Why not?

I was SO not prepared for the number of bids I received. I guess it was the low number of credits I asked. It was only 15 credits. But then – I didn’t know how much I could ask and still have the offer accepted by someone. I guess I can ask more than 15 credits, eh? XD

Anyway. I received a total of 13 bids for my blog. Holy crap. O_O

And they were ALL worthy blogs. A couple of them were blogs I had already visited from BE1, so it was a rough choice. A very rough choice indeed. Because, in the end, they liked *me* enough to want to be featured on my blog. No pressure, eh? Or maybe I’m just thinking about this too much. Probably way too much. (;

Anyway. I finally decided on GI Gotti and Across the Pond – a blog written by an active duty solider currently serving in Iraq. I couldn’t think of a better blog to be my first tenet. So – go visit. Go. You know you want to go visit. Go. *points to the side* You can see his blog there. See? It’s cute. Click. Cliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiick . . .
