Spring Broken? (part 1)

I was informed I needed to make a post about my Spring Break trip. I only wish I had gorgeous pictures to include with the post. Unfortunately, I do not own a digital camera, so – all my pictures are languishing on film. The Horror!!

Anyway, Betty, here you go, my lovely.
—————————————–
And so it was that I went on a vacation over my spring break. Where did I go, you ask? To a warm, balmy clime; to the turquoise waters of the Pacific and the Gulf; to gorgeous vistas from mountains high. I went to Costa Rica. And it was warm. And gorgeous. I will not lie. All of the above were utterly true. It really was a lovely trip. The end wasn’t quite as fun, but we will get there. Also note: I went on this trip with about 30 high school students. Aye, high schoolers. Fortunately, they were angels. Thank goodness. It’s great to have students you can trust not to be stupid.

We made a stop in Guatemala City, Guatemala. It wasn’t a long stop-over. Then, we went onto San Jose, Costa Rica. Goddess, it was freaking hot out. Unbelievably hot. You have to remember, I had just flown out of DC – where I’d needed jeans, sneakers, and a jacket to be comfortable. Phew. It was an eye-opener. Yes, I packed properly, but it was still crazy hot to my body. We drove into San Jose anad it was such a conglomeration of cultures. The buildings were not very tall – due to earthquakes which do crop up now and again. The architecture was both old-world and new wave. It was so crazy to see it together. We passed a HUGE television screen on a tall building and on the next block – a Catholic Church built around 1900 or so. Crazy. We stayed at the Grand Hotel. A lovely place. No air conditioning, but there was a great breeze, so it was not uncomfortable at all at night. Another cool thing – Kennedy stayed at that hotel when he visited Costa Rica. There are chairs in the lobby which he brought with him. Neat, huh?

Where did we go from there. I knew I should have written this when I got back. AH! We spent the next several days at a small place called Turtle Bay Lodge, where we were issued keys attached to keychains in the shape of large turtles – La Tortuga! Yes, we referred to our keys from that moment on as the Tortuga. :lol Yes, we are weird. No air conditioning here either. And it was 100% humidity. Nothing would dry. It sucked. I got a pair of jean shorts wet. They hung out to dry for two days and were STILL freaking wet. Agh. Death by humidity. It was hot, but the breezes were nice. Oh, the really bizarre part of this place – you had to travel an hour by boat to get to it. You could not drive to it. The lodge is situated down a series of canals. Very interesting. Of course, the day we went on an exploration of said canals – with the roofs off the boats – it poured rain. Oh yes. Poured. Deluge. Hence, I had jean shorts I could not get dry. Rough. Overall, it was gorgeous. The lodge had a black sand beach, which Costa Rica has many of due to the fact that Costa Rica was actually built from active volcanos. Yes, that’s right. The volcanos are still active.

Stay tuned for Part 2…

The Monster Lives!

And so it came to be that the woman who released all evil into the world fell victim to that crazy thing called – real life. Yes, that’s right, this Poe suddenly became swamped with things unrelated to things crazy little thing called blogging. And the world was sad. And who was irritated and annoyed. Yes, to those of you who bugged and bothered me for the months where this blog lay silent and dormant, your pleas have not fallen upon deaf ears. I have finally returned to the land of blogging. And there was much rejoicing. (yay….)

This blog is coming back to life. I have missed writing. I have missed blogging. Life has not been quite the same without telling the internets all about my frustrations and problems. And I haven’t been quite the same, either. It’s unbelievable how much mroe stressed and frustrated I have been as I have not had the release of writing all the issues down and getting them out of my system. It really is a crazy thought to know . . .

“I need this blog.”

Not want, desire, think it’s cool . . . (even though all of those are true . . . )

But, to know “I need this blog” to help unwind.

Crazy. REALLY crazy.

(Am I crazy, internets?)

im taking easy street from now on

Since I live in Florida we don’t really HAVE a Spring. It’s really just a Pre Summer.  But when I lived in Missouri, I loved spring. It meant everything was waking up. The tempratures were starting to thaw. It meant classes were nearly over and my birthday was just around the corner.  Now all I’ve got is my birthday – which is absolutely my favorite day in the spring. grin

Wanna post on my blog for FFAF too? Feel free. I’ve got it open too! wink
