Teacher Version

Jenny had something up at her blog, which she consequently stole from someone else – who got it elsewhere. Don’t you just love it when that happens? XD

So, that one was based on the person who works from on via computer – be it design or programming or writing or whatever. And I made the comment there – there needs to be a teacher version. Because there are some things that those ‘other job’ people just don’t get. Here’s a nice list for you.

  • My day doesn’t actually end at 2:10. There’s still a bazillion things to do, thank you very much. 2:10 is when the students go home. Officially.
  • Yes, I get summers off. No, they don’t *pay* me for those months.
  • Work has to come home with me. Otherwise, I live at work. So – no. I can’t just come home and be me. Not every day.
  • No, I don’t leave my job at the door. I think about it all the time. During dinner, while watching CSI, while having a conversation, before I go to bed. I am always tryin to figure out how to best help some student.
  • Yes, being around children all day influences my actions.
  • No. I would never date a student when they graduated or turned 18. (Yes, people ask me that. All I can say is – EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. Besides, jailbait much?)
  • Finals week is *not* a good time to take your kid on vacation.
  • No, coming back from vacation the second week of school is not a good idea.

Obviously, those last two were aimed more at parents, but you wouldn’t believe how often I see that. The school calender is available to any and everyone at LEAST a year in advance. You’d think you could plan better. (Barring unforeseen circumstances, like a death in the family.)

Anyway. I know there are more. I’ll update when I think of some.

I for sure respect a lot what you are doing… unless you are the teacher my son had in Kindergarten which I wanna punch on the nose.
