Thinking…

So, I’ve been thinking about creating a new layout for my site. Don’t get me wrong. I <3 this one that Betty made me. I <3 her very much for succumbing to my please. But, I'm a strange sort and I adore being able to make my own stuff. So, I went about, designing a new layout. I love the colors. And my dear Luka kindly contributed the image. Now, it's full size, so I've thumbnailed and linked it out. (=

I love the swirlies!

Now. Here’s the problem…

CSS and I are not friends. 😐 Sure, I can blunder about and accomplish simple things, but getting a layout to position properly? And get all the rest of it to layer and repeat correctly? Oy. OY! ): I need help. 😐 Anyone want to lend a girl a hand?

Love the swirlies and the color is soooo pretty.

You know, all you really need is to crop out the swirly part and set it as the background for your body tag and position it as top left fixed no-repeat so that it is flush against the upper left hand side of the screen and doesn’t repeat itself.

Then, you can set your sidebar to a blue background with a dark blue border. Same for the blog entries.

It doesn’t seem like it would be too hard, YOU CAN DO IT!!! smile

Oh wait. Fixed would make it not move. Forget the fixed part. wink

Hrmmmm. I will give it a shot, Betty…

I’m scared I’ll break the blog. LOL

Ooooo, I really love those swirlies.

I believe in your Barbara! You can do it!

okay, this may sound somewhat complicated, but I swear, it’s not…maybe smile

#wrap (div element that contains everything and keeps the layout at a fixed width)
#header (that’s where you’d put your swirlies and site title/tagline, etc.)
#content (that’s the main content div where all the posts go.)
#sidebar (that’s the div on the right where all the meta information would go.)
#footer (didn’t see one, but throwing it in for good measure.)

without delving too deeply into the details, but you could get creative with a few floats for lining everything up.

If you feel brave, download the Style Master trial version and start messing around with the floating/positioning until you have something reasonable.

Of course, if you need help along the way, you can always shoot an e-mail my way and I’ll see what I can do smile
