Well, it’s already nearly 10 days into August. This is starting to scare the life out of me. Where did the summer go? What happened? Didn’t I just start my vacation? AGH!
So, the school year will soon begin again. And, once more, I will become an insane person. I need you, internets, to keep me sane. I really do. Between my students, my fellow teachers, the administration, a new grading program, and being senior class sponsor, I am going to need any form of sanity I can possibly get. It is going to be a very rough year. I know it already. Perhaps I need to get on this protected entries thing that Rachel was talking about – just so that I can rant without fearing my students have found me. Hrmm. Damn. I am going to have to do it. Crap. Rachel? Can I bug you about that stuff? It can wait, it’s not that important as of yet. (;
Yes, I have found my Bete Noir. (Hrmm, too much NCIS for me yesterday.) My students finding my personal blog. Dear lord. What would be an unbelievable nightmare. >___< I would definitely have to make tracks to another URL, sucky as that would be. Meh. Mergh. Anyway. I am going to get kinda boring in the next bit, so if you are curious, feel free to read the more. (;
Um. So. Yes. The school year starts again soon. Like – in – um – what – 11 days? Ew. Help me.
I will be teaching three classes of Precalculus, with a brand new curriculum. And said new curriculum is done. All of it. I’m in fucking shock. I have taught a brand new curriculum the past two years. One year it was Geometry and one year it was Algebra 2. And they were not done before the year started. We got the first two units before the year started, then more as they were ‘finished’. It was a nightmare to try and plan. So, I am unbelievably ecstatic that all seven units are ready to go – AND ready to read. Yes, they have been shipped and have arrived at my school. I think I’ll go get one tomorrow and start reading over what’s required.
The brand, spanking new books which go along with that curriculum – not in. >___< Ergh. I have a 'training' for this new curriculum on the 17th, and the book is not in. There is - like - one copy of the teacher's edition at work. There are about - let me count - six to eight Precaulus teachers at my work. That's not going to cut it. Evil. However, I have spoken to my RT, that's the department chair, and he says they should be in any time. So - keep your fingers crossed, internets! Senior class sponsor. That means I am in charge of the senior class. Well. Planning all the crap the senior class gets to do. Prom. Graduation. Senior Picnic. Senior Breakfast (hopefully a non-alcoholic one this year, but that’s a whole other post. Let me know if you want to hear about that one…). Homecoming. Not to mention all our fundraisers. Putting on the Hits. Mr. Wootton. Mulch Sale. (oh god, the MULCH sale.) And various restaurant nights and what nots. I must be insane. >___< I am going to *live* at work. This is going to suck so much. Anyone know anything about getting around a network so I can get online with my laptop? Anyone? Please? Oy!
Aily swearing? This IS bad. Shall I deploy some Ninja Weasels to follow Aily around? *hugs much*
Pre calc?? I never got to that one… heheheh…
erm.
Pre calculus. wow. I’m not sure what I’d do nowadays if I never took that. I mean, i would never be able to find a job!
[/sarcasm]
why do they have these classes?
OMG! Hun, we’ll be here to make sure you stay sane. I was always very good at calculus for some reason I never understood (it’s probably because of my genes – you know what I’m talking about). I was crap at Geometry and every other class except for English (which is even odder since my genes have nothing to do with it).
Oh dear, lunch break’s over. Gotta get back to work… 🙁
xXx
WM – I do swear. Sometimes. (;
Daniel – it’s okay. Most people can get through life without it. (; Look at Yoshi there. See how much *he* uses it?
Yoshi – they have them because they can. : :snickers:: No, actually, there are some occupations which require the skills taught in them. Engineering and whatnot.
colin – No worries. Some things are just – innate. (;
Remember, there are people out there a lot more insane than you – just stand really close to them. It will make you look more sane.
(Pre Calc?? Oh yea…not a day goes by when I don’t need to break out my Calculus skills…seriously. OK, not really, I’m being sarcastic. Good luck with that, though.)
Oooh, can I get some of your mathiness??? The farthest I got in HS was Algebraic Connections (between Algebra and Geometry).
It’s not the insanity that you have to worry about, it’s the things that hide in it.
