Lucian had decided. He would go for the sword. He would leave Jarrod behind to supervise the construction of the fortifications of the city. Jarrod had just laughed at Lucian’s concern, stating he had more experience with building cities than Lucian did. Which was sort of true. Lucian had laughed, leaving his friend to it. Nicholas had also opted to remain behind and help Jarrod with the fortifications, knowing where Ryall’s army would be more likely to strike.
This left Lucian to travel with Solstice, the seer, and a few of his men. He did not take many, as he was uncertain the mission would yield anything of interest. A story was one thing. Finding the artifact which was the source of the story – that was something else entirely.
The sword was said to be somewhere just of Eyanea lands, but not within Tyradih. These lands were currently unclaimed by any kingdom, a neutral place. The group rode upon horseback, toward the clearing from the picture. Nicholas had been able to give them some directions to get them started. From his starting point, they were able to at least find the clearing.
“It’s truly real.” Lucian dismounts, moving toward the lake. He keeps the horse’s reigns in his hand, just in case.
“So it seems, Lucian.” She dismounts and follows him. She looks around slowly.
“So – now where to we look?” Lucian looks around the clearing himself, frowning faintly.
“That is a very good question. I’m not certain.” She narrows her eyes, then moves forward, a hand on a smooth section of the cliff wall. “Perhaps here.”
“And I was going to suggest here.” Lucian was standing near the waterfall. “There is a cavern here….”
“And I am pretty certain there is a hidden door here…”
