Thwarted,
Yes I have been thwarted. As of yesterday on the EB Games website Final Fantasy Crisis Core for the PSP was said to be coming out on the 25th of March. Now, Tuesdays are the Debut day for alot of things these days, Games, Music and also DVDs. It’s something of an industry standard I guess so I have come to expect it and of course that was my downfall. Square-ENIX has done this to me before and I should really have been ready for it this time around the block but alas, I got my hopes up.
Right after work this afternoon I scampered over to the EB Games and popped my head in the door to say hello to Karen and Lauren (yes..I am on a first name basis with my Game Store Employees how much of a geek am I?) and asked if Crisis Core was out.
“Oh the new Final Fantasy game? Was that coming out today?” This was not the opening statement I was hoping for…and unfortunately according to their Computer the game is ‘Shipped’ but not there yet and to add insult to injury they said it was coming out on the 27th not the 25th. Despite the fact that the Website lists it as Out Now.
I really truly despise being thwarted.
So, in the tradition of our absentee Hostess, how was your day Internets?
Don’t they arrive like on the day or day after their release if you order them from amazon? I know how you feel though. I remember being in a far worse state all three times I was expecting deliveries from Apple. They don’t get here fast enough and the site, It. Lies. To .Your. Face.
It always said it had shipped for almost 10 days before it actually arrived. Can you imagine being afraid to go to pee in case the TNT guy showed up while you were in the loo for all these days? I even stayed in the house as much as possible in case they showed up!
My sympathies mate…
When I worked at babbages I had to deal with that all the time. I remember being on first name basis with a lot of my customers, and believe it’s not geeky (at least to me lol).
I always told my customers that never believe the release date. because when it was on my computer that it was coming out on such and such a date, I said yeah, that will change tomorrow and sure enough it would.
The release dates are all approximations that the company decides on because it sounds good. Only release dates that are governed by the publisher are the important ones like the game console itself, or a specific type of game that they want to keep super secret.
But yeah. the best way to figure out the release date is simple. It’s out when it’s out.
I feel for you man. I totally felt bad when someone was told a certain date and I didn’t have it.
