AAA for the win

So, Friday, I’m packing up at work, getting ready to go home.

Papers in bag. Check.
Jacket. Check.
Purse. Check.
Computer off. Check.
Exchange school keys for car keys. Che –

Car keys? Hello?! *Frantic rummaging amongst purse, pockets, desk drawer, and school bag*

Shit. No keys. They have to be in the car. I go to my car. Yup. Right there on driver’s seat.

Fuck.

Call mom. Does AAA fix this? Probably, she says. Where’s your card, she says. At home in my other purse, I say. I haven’t switch back to my other purse after vacation yet. The one with my full wallet – and my extra car key. She gives me the AAA number and the account number. I call. Do you unlock cars? All the time, they say.

Thank, fucking, god.

The time now is 3:05, they say. Someone will arrive between now and 3:50, they say. Okay, I say. I sit on the ground and start grading, thanking the goddess that despite the cloudy skies, it’s a relatively nice day.

3:30. Phone call. The truck. The man who opens my car.

HALLELUJAH!

Mike D from Morton’s Towing and Hauling – bless you. You have no idea.

Thus, my Friday adventure ended very happily.

HORRAY! (=

When did you last do something dumb, internets?

Whoa. I’ll have to remember this next time I decide to lock my keys in my car.

Hmm. I can’t recall the last time I’ve done anything dumb because it’s kinda normal for me. I do dumb shit every day. LOL So I’ll just say today. LOL

Earlier this morning while I was in the Kitchen at work I was baking some pasta with cheese through the Impinger and when I went to lift it out and set it on the plate it began to slip out of my grip so what did I do? Brought my free hand around to catch the now 450 Degree Ceramic boat it was in…ow.

I am paranoid about losing my car key or forgetting it in the car. My car has a habit of locking itself up and even activating the alarm on its own. It has happened a couple of times while I was driving (yes… I was driving and the car alarm went off, very surreal) and many times while I was parked and just getting all my stuff together before I got out and locked it myself (the last one is because it locks itself up after the engine has been off for a certain amount of time). I always double and triple check I am holding the key while I get out of the car.
