Okay, so, here’s the story. (I’ll be telling this in present tense, so, yes, the time is off from the time of this post. q: Deal.)
I’m at work. (‘Cuz its 9:00 am and a Thursday and not a holiday. Of course, I’m at work.) I’m administering a chapter test to my 2nd period students. One of them needs to have a section chunked. Crap. I didn’t run any of the sections single sided. Okay, I’ll just staple a piece of paper over the back. Cool. Wait. Where’s the stapler. Crap. In the desk. I open the desk and snag my ring on the metal above the drawer. Nothing which hasn’t happened before. The drawer opens, out comes the stapler, close goes the drawer. I staple the paper to the test section and give it to the student. I resume my seat behind the desk. I pick up my pencil to finish the key. Something’s weird. I look – ring is sans the stone. AHHHHHHH! *panic* Now, don’t get me wrong. It’s not like the stone was some 2 carat, perfect diamond. It was just an oval amethyst stone. But – it was something given to me by my mother when I was barely a teen. Ya. SERIOUS sentimental value. (Not to mention, I just had the thing reset because the gold of the original ring wouldn’t stand up to another resizing.) Major panic attack. I looked all over the floor. I looked in the drawer. I looked on the floor. I looked around the classroom. I checked my pockets. Now, I’m ready to cry, but can’t – students watching. AHHHH! *more panic* I checked the drawer one more time, including a box in there. I emptied the box. There it was – under everything in the box. Oh, thank goddess. *less panic*
What a way to start your day, eh? *breathe*
Now, I’ll be off to the jeweler’s to have the stone reset (again).
But, at least I found it. *phew*
How’s your day?
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh. (I need a drink…)
