Week 2 AI – Results

Why themes?

Can you go back to yesteryear – when music was a little better, songwriting was a litter better – and work out on those songs from yesteryear.

Simon’s strange hand to head gesture was discussed.

Top Twenty sing as a group. Why. Shoot me. I’ll be back after it’s over.

The rest is after the bump. Just so it’s not ruined for non-East Coast people. (; (<3 Daniel)

Important Idol News!
March 12 – Top 12 sing. New set, new graphics, etc.
Lennon-McCartney songbook is the theme for that show.
They are doing “Idol Gives Back” again this year to raise money for starving children in Africa – April 9.

What the hell was Ryan talking about? I tuned in during the middle of a list of celebrities. Huh. Weird.

Anyway. Look after the bump for who got kicked off. I’m outta here. Tomorrow – FFAF. Everyone loves a good FFAF. (;

Week 2 AI – Girls

Okay, I admit it. I am not sure I REALLY want to be bothered doing this. I wasn’t going to do it. I’m not sure I care enough. I even told Yoshi I wasn’t going to do it. But – I did the boys yesterday. So – eh. Next week, I think I’ll just blog the results. For tonight – we get into the girls. It’s going to be short tonight. Unless I feel strongly. I’m just not feelin’ it, dawg.

Don’t look, Daniel! Don’t look! (;
Yoshi, here’s the show. (;

Carly Smithson – Crazy On You
Not bad. I like it. She sounds better this week than last, I think. I like this song on her. Judges?
Randy: Picked a rocker. It was good towards the end. Beginning was rough. A’ight.
Paula: Great to see you are healthy. Fine singer to sing those big notes. Amazing job.
Simon: Much better performance. Panting! You’ve not chosen the right song yet. Other girls can’t touch you vocally. Girl to beat.

Syesha Mercado – Me and Mr. Jones
I like it okay. I like it better than Carly. Hrmm. But just this week. I’m not that fond of – her. I’m not sure why. (I hate the end. That was just unnecessary. Get off the stage, bitch.) Judges?
Randy: Not a great song choice. Pick stuff where you can use what you got. A’ight.
Paula: Fall off pitch when you go into the softer notes. Like the interpretation. Like it.
Simon: Whoopee. Indulgent. Silly thing to have done. Put off. Not a song for your voice. Not a clever choice.

Brooke White – You’re So Vain
Ohhhh, I like this song so much. She’s doing a decent job with it, too. (She plays guitar?! O_o) Like it better than both of the previous girls. Yup. Judges?
Randy: Great song choice. Liked it. Was this about someone at the judges table?
Paula: Perfect song choice for you. Like what you did. Everyone was diggin’ it.
Simon: I absolutely loved it. (Wow!) Perfect song for you. Connected. Sang well. Didn’t sound old fashioned.

Ramiele Malubay – Don’t Leave Me This Way
I don’t like this at all. Ah, that’s why. Disco. (Hear that beat? Disco. Totally.) Meh. I guess she’s doing okay with it. I mean, the girl can sing. I just – don’t like the song itself. Ergh. Judges?
Randy: Really rough for me. Okay for me. Song choice is weird. Wasn’t my favorite choice for you. Keepin’ it real!
Paula: One to beat. Vocals are truly amazing. You didn’t get to perform your magic. (She didn’t like it.)
Simon: Much, much better last week. More personality. Not going to remember this performance so well. Wasn’t one of your best.

Kristi Lee Cook – You’re No Good
Whoops. I was channel surfing and missed the beginning of the song. Damn. I’m so sad. What I’ve heard – it’s a’ight. Just – a’ight. I’m not wowed. Make her go home. (I’m not sure they really liked it. They just said it was better and that the song choice was good. Hrmm.) Judges?
Randy: 100% improvement over last week. No breakout moments. Better song choice.
Paula: You’re back. Good to hear you. Good song choice for you.
Simon: Huge improvement. I don’t know what type of singer you really are. Got potential.

(Seriously? Enough with the commercials after every damn song. Ugh.)

Amanda Overmyer – Carry On Wayward Son
She’s got a really gravelly voice. I’m not sure I dig it. What is with that HAIR?! O_o It’s all – poofy. Like a bad wig! Right. The singing. I was distracted. It’s – a’ight. I mean, yeah. A’ight. It’s not exciting. It’s not really good. It’s just – a’ight. (The end, again, was horrirfic. Ugh.) Judges?
Randy: Wasn’t the right song choice for you. Too many instrumental breaks for a singer. Verses were pitchy.
Paula: Got some moves. Do what fits right. This was not the right song for you.
Simon: Everything felt contrived. Clothes to hair to song. None of it felt real. Couldn’t wait for it to finish. Didn’t get that.

Alaina Whitacker – Hopelessly Devoted to You
Hrmmm. Not – bad. I love this song. (I’m just sappy like that.) I’m trying not to dig it just for the sake of the song. (; But – she is doing a good job with it. I think she picked a good song for herself. I hate the dress. But – I like her with this song. Yeah. Judges?
Randy: Not the right song for you. Verses were pitchy. Wasn’t my favorite for you.
Paula: I think you did a real good job. Wasn’t as bad as Randy says.
Simon: I like you. It’s as if your grandmother prepared you for this audition – hair, dress, song. Pageanty. One of the dark horses. Make yourself relevant.

Alexandrea Lushington – If You Leave Me Now
I don’t like her. I don’t know why. But – just not liking her. Meh. She’s a’ight, I guess. A’ight. I’m not digging the song. And it just seems – bland. Completely bland. Judges?
Randy: So safe. Challenge yourself. Boring choice. (So TRUE, Randy. So True.)
Paula: You let go and you stretched it. You are relevant. Let yourself be.
Simon: You are struggling. Song is absolutely stuck in its time period. You were inconsistent with the song. You looked uncomfortable with the song. It was boring.

Kady Malloy – Magic Man
What the hell is she singing? I can’t hear the lyrics. What the heck. Srsly. (Hey, it’s KG over for a visit again!) I could not understand her at all. Enunciate, woman. Eh. Not even a’ight. I hated it. >__<
Randy: Interesting song choices tonight. Never found the pitch.
Paula: When you powered, you sounded great. On the low notes, you lost a little bit. Let go.
Simon: I’m frustrated. What you do on film is very good. On stage, there isn’t anything. Wrong song. 1 million percent.

Asia’h Epperson – All By Myself
It started out a’ight, I suppose. Oh, she flubbed the chorus! All b-vb- by myself! XD She’s really tentative with this song. It’s screwing her up – a lot. Ow. That hurt. Ugh. Painful. I don’t like it. I predict the word pitchy will come up. But – yeah. Tentative and pitchy. That’s my thoughts. Judges?
Randy: Difficult song. Good job with it. (No pitchy? It was! Dammit, it was! >__< )
Paula: Problems in the low parts. (there it is! Randy in the side, pitchy!)
Simon: One of the diva songs of all times. You have to be one heck of a singer to pull it off. Unfortunately, you are not. Song was too big for you. Silly decision.

Okay. The girls were – a’ight. I suppose. They picked some boring songs. Ugh. The boys were better. If the girls don’t pick this up, one of the guys is going to win – again. (;

Tomorrow – stream of consciousness blogging for the results show! See you then. (=

Week 2 AI – Boys

This
Is American Idol.
Guys.

Dear Lord – let it be better this week than last. Ugh. I hope it’s a good freaking theme. Meh. Don’t look, Daniel! Don’t look! (;

No, really, stop looking, Daniel.

Randy: Bring it to win it. (No, really?)
Paula: Growing into their own comfort level
Simon: Be better tonight

Classics from the 70’s – fuck. I hate the 70’s. >__< Michael Johns – Go Your Own Way
It’s – okay. The beginning sucked and now it’s better after the chorus. Just a’ight for me, dawg. Judges?
Randy: Good singer. It’s okay.
Paula: Consistent (Paula likes this guy too much. >__<)
Simon: It’s okay. Weakest perfomance so far. Coasting.

Jason Castro – I Just Want to Be Your Everything
Hrmm. It’s not bad. He’s got the guitar again. Can he perform without it? Or is it going to be a thing with him? Just wondering. Judges? (Huh. Look at that. They want to know if he can do it without the guitar too. Nice. (; )
Randy: Guitar is cool as an act. Vocals weren’t that great. Just okay. Kinda karoke
Paula: Wasn’t that bad. I think he’s cute. Clever song choice. See you without the guitar
Simon: Horrible. Too smaltzy. Vocals weak. Didn’t go together.

Luke Menard – Killer Queen
I couldn’t understand the beginning of this at all. I had no idea what he was singing at first. Man, you should never massacre a Queen song like that. Bastard. I want him to die for that. >___< It got better. Yeah. But - yeah. Ugh. I'm pissed about it now. :/ Judges?
Randy: Tough song. Like you better this week. Pitch problems. Pretty good.
Paula: Glad it was a great week. Perfect song.
Simon: It was a mistake. Judged with original. Original singer had charisma and personality. You didn’t. (HA! Simon! XD )

Robbie Carrico – Hot Blooded
Isn’t this song supposed to be – hyper? Bouncy? Something? It seems – slow. I don’t know. Something seems wrong. :/ Maybe I’m remembering the song wrong. I don’t know. The vocals are pretty good. I just – the tempo seems wrong. I’ll wait for the judges for that one. The vocals are probably the best I’ve had all night. Judges?
Randy: One of my favorite songs – waiting to be wowed and nothing came out. Just okay.
Paula: How does anyone know who you are but you? Played it safe this week. Lose your personality.
Simon: Don’t get defensive. Vocal was okay tonight.

Danny Noriega – Superstar
(So flaming. Sorry, Daniel. >__< )
I liked it. Best one so far. The perfomance actually seemed to match the song. Judges?
Randy: A fan. Thinking too much. Let it go and just sing.
Paula: Amazing vocal skill. Don’t overthink it. Forget about us.
Simon: Better this week. (I missed the rest, trying to get the damn song name.)

David Hernandez – Papa Was a Rolling Stone
I’m digging it. Of course, it’s a good song to start. But, I have to admit. He’s doing a good job with this song. I mean, the Temptations? Not bad for a white boy. (; Judges?
Randy: This is the David Hernandez we fell in love with. Dat’s how to put it down. Hot.
Paula: *standing ovation* (jesus, woman) Your voice is so pure. Personality came out this week. Perfect.
Simon: Best vocal of the night so far. (Totally agree, Simon. Totally.) You rise to the challenge of criticism.

Okay, apparently, they are not picking Disco. These songs are – good. DAMN good. Maybe I don’t hate the 70’s for music. (; (As much as I thought, anyway.)

Jason Yeager – Long Train Running
What the hell is this? O_o I – don’t like him with this song. At all. The vocals are okay. But – wow. I do not like him with this song. Ugh. Mleh. Stop. Just – stop. It’s not Amy Davis from last week (That was painful) – but I just dont’ like it at all. Judges?
Randy: Aw, god, dude. Wrong song. Pitchy and karoke. Didn’t get it.
Paula: Fun to see this side of you. Doesn’t show your vocal range. Wrong song.
Simon: Last week was boring. This week was awkward and ordinary. Horrific ending. Disappointed.

Chikezie – I Believe
Dude. If I can’t understand you – I don’t like you. Enunciate more. Jeez. Vocals are – okay. Not feelin’ it, dawg. Meh. Mostly because the beginning turned me off when I couldn’t understand some of the words. Stop screaming at me, too. >__< Judges? (Guess it was just me. Oh well.)
Randy: Chikezie is back. I’m happy you’re back. Having fun. Dat was hot, baby.
Paula: Very clever. Brilliant. Fun.
Simon: Look better, sounded better. Clever choice of song. Million times better than last week.

David Cook – All Right Now
My toes be a’tapping. So – hrmm. Course, the song is damn good, too. (; Now, how is HE doing with it? Not badly. His electric guitar is – turned up a bit too loud, I think. It’s distracting. I dig the a capella (mostly) part though. Judges?
Randy: Love throwing the picks out into the crowd. You are the real rocker this year. Smart song choice.
Paula: Band’s on fire tonight. Real deal. Got it. Very smart.
Simon: Solid. Believable. The film in the back was boring. You don’t have a lot of charisma.

David Archuleta – Imagine
Smart of them to put him last. He’s good. I like the rendition of this song. It’s good. Really good. Damn. Judges?
Randy: Dawg. One of the best vocals I’ve ever heard on this show. Brilliant. Hot!
Paula: You are ridiculous. (I think she cried. Looks like tears on her face.) One of the most moving performances.
Simon: Very risky to do John Lennon. It worked! You are the one to beat. 19 very missable contestants after that.

All in all – much better than last week. Some of them I hated. Some I liked. But – definitely better than last week.
No. I am not voting. I don’t care that much. And yet- I blog the show. What is wrong with me. (;
