Choose!

tuesday is chooseday

    Would you rather:

  1. live forever OR go back in time to when you were seven, knowing everything you know now?
That’s rough. I vote on going back in time to when I was seven. Besides – who wants to live forever?
  2. be caught with your hand in a stranger’s purse OR taking a picture of a stranger peeing?
Holy Hera. Definitely get caught with my hand in the purse.
  3. kiss a horse on the lips OR poke a dog in the butt?
Well – where on the butt are we talking?
  4. wake up in the county jail OR naked, on the train tracks?
    County Jail, hands down.

Dear Soldier –

I send this letter out into the depths of cyberspace in the hopes of having it reach as many of the United States military personnel as possible – especially the ones serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan.

There are so many emotions felt and, yet, so few words that can express how I feel about you working to preserve freedom for all, fighting against tyranny and oppression, and keeping all of us at home safe and sound. I’ll try and put some of them down on this ‘paper’ for you.

Pride. In you, just an every day person, putting forth your time, energy, perhaps even your life, to serve a country you love dearly. To fight for a country you hold close to your heart, your soul.

Comfort. I take comfort in your courage, in your unceasing determination to do what needs to be done, to go where you are needed. I take comfort in the knowledge that while I am here, you are there, watching out for me.

Fear. I hear the news reports and I fear for you, for your family. I fear you will be hurt – or worse. I fear your family will get that dreaded phonecall or telegram. And yet, despite the danger apparent, you do waver in your determination.

Sadness. Hearing of the dead and wounded coming home to their loved ones brings tears as I think of how much you have sacrificed for your country – for me.

Hope. I have hope for the future because of you. Your strength of character, your drive to do what is right – it gives me a great hope for the future of all.

Love. Strange as it may sound – I love you. For all that you do for those who do not even know you. For those that do know you. For your family, for your country, for those in your unit. For your courage, your fire, your loyalty.

And finally, I give unto you the smallest two words ever invented to hold such a deep depth of emotion.

Thank you.

For without you, there would be no me. Without you, I might not be able to write this letter to you. Without you, how I view freedom would not be the same. Without you, my entire life might not be possible at all.

Looking back, it seems like so few words, yet they are all I have to give to you. So I send them, in the hopes they will brighten your day. In the hopes that you will know that someone does care for you and what you do – and cares what happens to you.

Yours,
Barbara

(Note: I put Soldier at the beginning of this, but this could be for an Airman, Marine, or Sailor.)

As before – click on the ‘Meltdown’ category to see old versions.

It’s called the “Monday Meltdown” and is an excuse to just let out some of the frustration within. We all have frustration, yes? So – let’s focus our frustration and let it out on Mondays – because we all know that Mondays just deserve it. Just ask Garfield. ::grins::

Here’s how it is going to work. I’m going to post a choice for you. You take it away and go! Either in the comments section or on your own blog. But if you run away to your own blog, please drop me a comment so I can come see. ::grins:: I love to read a good rant.

I also have a button up there you can ‘steal’. Steal meaning take away to your own server. Don’t direct link. I’m afraid I don’t have the bandwidth for that one. (; So – are you ready to vent? I know you are. ::grins::

This week’s rants:
1. Football
or
2. People who Vanish

You are free to rant about both or just one. Some of these rants may come back around, so don’t feel you need to do both of them so you can get it in. ::grins::

Okay! Go! If you are interested in my Meltdown for the week, just click on the ‘more’ there.

Christmas Card Exchange

So, you know you want a Christmas card from me. XD (Holiday card for you non-Christmas people.) And I will say I blatantly (and unashamedly) stole this from Betty. But it’s such a DAMN good idea, how could I not? When the place is literally in my backyard? And several of my dear friends are in the military and it could BE them there.

Okay, so – here it goes.

Send me your snail mail addy (if you trust me. (; ) and I will send you a Christmas card. Instead of sending *ME* one in return, you send one to a wounded soldier (sailor, marine, airman, you get the idea). Or – you can be all: “Since she’s an OBVIOUS stalker, I’m just going to send one to a wounded military person.” That’d be great too. (;

Email me at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with your snail mail to get a genuine Capital Christmas Card! (ooo. C Cubed! You know you want a C Cubed!!!)

Here’s where you send the Christmas Cards (or even just normal mail!) to wounded military personnel.

Walter Reed Army Medical Center
c/o Red Cross
6900 Georgia Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20307-5001

Now. Accoding to Betty, you can address it to “Any Soldier” (Or, I imagine, Any Sailor, Any Marine, Any Airman, etc) if you like, but by putting the ‘c/o Red Cross’ – they’ll know it’s for the wounded people.

Let’s all send some cheer this year, eh? I need to see what else I can do.

(Edit – I can’t spell. Someone get me a spellcheck! STAT!! Words like soldier are doing me in! AHH!)

Bless You

So, with all of the concern about Bird Flu and people catching it from their food, I thought I’d share the following with you.

Do not be alarmed. I do not think this is the US Turkey supply. I think Thanksgiving is still safe.
